NRTL refers to the Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory , which is the abbreviation of the English Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory . It is a third-party organization recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration ( OSHA ) in accordance with the 29th Federal Regulations , Section 1910.7 . In North America, manufacturers who legally sell civilian or industrial products on the market must carry out rigorous testing in accordance with national standards. Only after passing the relevant tests of the Nationally Recognized Laboratory (NRTL) , the product can be legally sold in the market.
In the United States, NRTL provides safety testing and certification services for products used in the workplace. In Canada, a certification body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada ( SCC ) performs the above services.
Only the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration can authorize third-party independent laboratories as nationally recognized laboratories. Authorized laboratories have the authority to carry out relevant tests on products and issue corresponding product safety certificates after the products pass all relevant tests.
Regarding the scope of products involved in NRTL certification, the authorized scope of each NRTL certification is different . The main products include:
