LIFT

Introduction to elevator LIFT certification

The European Union issued a new elevator directive 2014/33/EU in 2014, as well as a new version of the elevator standard EN 81-20 and the elevator manufacturing and installation safety code EN 81-50. The directives and standards will be implemented on April 20, 2016. It will be enforced in September 2017 and will replace the old elevator directive 95/16/EC. The LIFT Directive is an EU directive for elevator safety. The EU authorized agency conducts an EC conformity review of the safety components and products of the elevator according to the LIFT directive.

Legal background:

Within the EU member states, elevator safety components can only be placed on the market if they have the CE mark and an EC declaration of conformity. Obtaining the CE mark complies with the EC type test of safety components (Elevator Directive 2014/33/EU);

Elevator safety components in
EU member states, elevator safety components can only be put on the market if they have the CE mark and an EC declaration of conformity.
The LIFT instruction defines the safety components as follows:

Floor door lock device: car door lock device and hall door lock device

Uplink overspeed protection device (brake)

Safety gear to prevent elevator falling
-instantaneous type (roller and wedges)
-progressive speed limiter

-Buffers
    -Energy storage type buffers
    -Energy-consuming buffers

Pipe rupture valve or safety valve (safety anti-skid device for hydraulic elevator)

Electrical safety control circuit

Certification process:

 The authorization of all elevator safety components listed in Annex IV of the LIFT Directive. In accordance with the LIFT instruction, SICE inspection engineers conduct EC conformity assessment of the safety components and products of the vertical elevator according to the LIFT instruction, and carry out a global one-stop inspection and certification service.

Review technical documents (review of design calculations, review of design drawings, etc.);
verify technical compliance of safety components;
check and test according to standards (according to EN81-1/2, appendix F.1 to F.7 safety component test requirements)

Elevator safety component certification mode

Safety assessment model based on EC type test:
 EC type inspection (Appendix V-Mode B) + random inspection of the final product (Appendix Ⅺ—Mode C)
    EC type inspection (Appendix V-Mode B) + product quality assurance (Appendix Ⅺ–Mode E)
Safety assessment mode based on the quality assurance system:
 Comprehensive quantity control (Appendix Ⅸ-Mode H): The elevator safety components that have obtained the EC type approval, meet the LIFT directive and the coordination standard EN81 in the design, production, inspection and testing links -1/EN81-2 basic requirements, you can apply for the EC certificate of total quality control mode.
